Crisela Bernardino

Biography

Crisela Bernardino joined the research team of BIICL's Global Toolbox on Corporate Climate Litigation in 2024. She brings over a decade of experience from her roles as a corporate lawyer and litigator, as well as from her work in academia and with international NGOs, including the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Lawyers Project. Her work experience spans renewable energy, climate change law and policy, environmental law, human rights, access to justice, and international humanitarian law, among others.

Crisela is also a legal consultant at a major Philippine law firm and a Senior Lecturer on Legal Method (Legal Research and Philosophy) at the University of the Philippines. She holds Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of the Philippines (cum laude) and a Master's degree in International Social and Public Policy (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her Master's thesis explores the concept of 'climate justice' in climate change litigation using a socio-legal approach informed by decolonial theory.
