Young ITF-SG VYAP Event: Investor-State Mediation: The Future is Now?

Date: 26 June 2024

Time: 12.00 -12.45 (UK) / 19.00 - 19.45 (SGT)

Venue: Online

Event Details

Will mediation become a transformative force in the investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) context, or is its potential overstated? Can mediation offer a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional arbitration? Would it be more efficient than the cooling-off provisions in existing treaties? Does it allow investor-State relationships to be preserved and safeguard future foreign direct investment flows?

Join us for the upcoming Young ITF and SG VYAP webinar in which our stellar panellists will share their perspectives on mediation in the ISDS context. In particular, they will discuss strategic benefits of mediation, hurdles to the wider use of mediation in ISDS, practical insights into conducting ISDS mediations and the role of mediation in the UNCITRAL WG III reform.

The webinar will consist of a 30-minute panel discussion, followed by 15-minute small group discussions in virtual breakout rooms (with each small group matched to a panellist).
